SMART Technologies Inc. has launched its rear-projection SMART Board 4000i interactive whiteboard, a touch-sensitive display that reportedly delivers the highest resolution in a rear-projection interactive whiteboard with integrated projector. The 4000i display is powered by an integrated SXGA+ projector, which has a resolution of 1400 x 1050 (4:3 aspect ratio) and a contrast ratio of 1100:1. With a 2500-lumen projector and a 7,000-hour lamp, the whiteboard can be used for command-and-control, simulation, research, design and broadcast applications.
The 4000i features a shadow-free 66-in. (168-cm) display housed in a slim, mobile cabinet. Integrated projector controls are accessed from the front of the unit. Users operate computer applications and access files and the Internet by touching the display. No special tools are required to write over applications in digital ink, and then edit, save, print or post notes online for future reference.
Other features include DviT (Digital Vision Touch) technology, developed by SMART (patents pending), which uses cameras in the corners of the screen to track touch. SMART Board software allows users to write over any computer application, write and edit notes, and save everything in a single file. The numerous features of SMART Board software include notebook software, which captures annotations and saves notes, SMART Recorder (Microsoft® Windows® operating systems only), which saves audio and data for playback as a synchronized file, and SMART Video Player, which enables users to write over top of moving or still video.
