Applied Nanotech Carbon Nanotube TV
Company forms team to develop color CNT TV

Applied Nanotech Inc. (Austin, TX), a subsidiary of Nano-Proprietary Inc., released a 14-in. diagonal black and white carbon nanotube TV. Carbon nanotube (CNT) electron emission technology could be used to achieve affordable large-area entertainment and home TVs. Applied Nanotech developed a process of doping carbon nanotubes with certain alkali materials to extract the electrons.

Following the release of the black and white TV, the company formed a team with Japanese display component manufacturers to produce a 25-in. diagonal, full-color CNT TV prototype. The effort aims to demonstrate that carbon nanotube TVs in field emission mode have progressed enough to enable high-volume manufacturing. The reported goal is to present a 25-in. color CNT TV by late spring of 2004. The names of individual team members remain confidential for competitive reasons.
