LG.Philips Displays (Hong Kong) has started commercial production of its 21-in. Real Flat Cybertube+ SuperSlim cathode ray tube (CRT) color picture tube (CPT). The CPT is 35cm from the front to the back, thus achieving a 20% depth reduction compared to similar CRT products, the company reports.

Despite its slim profile, the tube reportedly maintains precision spot-size and color convergence over the screen area, plus quality picture geometry. The thin product was achieved by a systems-level design methodology that regards the electron gun, deflection yoke, shadow mask and glass envelope as a single integrated system rather than as separate components.
