Marktech Optoelectronics (Menands, NY) has unveiled two LED products. Cotco, a Hong Kong-based company, manufactures eXtra Bright blue LEDs, which comprise InGaN materials and silicon carbide formed into vertical chips. This construction maximizes light extraction and requires only one wire bond for enhanced reliability, the company reports. The LEDs offer 12,000 mcd luminous intensity, reportedly up to 50% brighter than current models. Marktech is eXtra Bright’s exclusive distributor.

Marktech has also introduced backlit, LED panels. Available in various colors and sizes, the panels function in LCD backlighting, large-area illumination and signage applications. Available in four models -- surface view/array, side view elements, side view chip-on-board and side-view lamps -- the panels offer uniform light intensity; backlights that conform to LCD size requirements; and single- or multi-color panels.
